La Catedral de Cuenca [The Cathedral of Cuenca]

Hay muchos puestos de historia en Cuenca. Especialmente en la ciudad alta de Cuenca. La catedral de Cuenca está en la ciudad alta. La semana pasada todos los estudiantes de la universidad fuimos a la Catedral de Cuenca. El exterior de la Catedral está hecho de piedra romano. Las ventanas tienen vidieras que, en mi opinion, son absolutamente impresionante y más bellas cuando el sol les pega.

Todas las personas necesitan que visitan la Catedral de Cuenca cuando están en Cuenca porque la catedral tenía historia sobre la religion católica. Es muy interesante para los cristianos. Cuando en la catedral, vi que los techos tenían azulejos diferentes entre cada columna. Tambien vi la escultura de la última cena. La excursion a la catedral de cuenca fue muy divertida para mi.

There are a lot of historical places in Cuenca. Especially in the high city of Cuenca. The Cathedral of Cuenca is in the high city. Last week all of the students from the university went to the Cathedral of Cuenca. The outside of the Cathedral is made of Roman stone. The windows are made of stained glass that, in my opinion, are absolutely impressive, and they are more beautiful when the sunlight hits them.

Everyone need to visit The Cathedral of Cuenca when they are in Cuenca because the cathedral has history about the Catholic religion. It is very interesting for Christians. When I was in the cathedral, I saw that the ceilings had different tiles between each column. Also, I saw the sculpture of "The Last Supper". The excursion to The Cathedral of Cuenca was very fun for me.

Madrid

La Cultura

Madrid es un ciudad antiguo con moderno características. Por ejemplo, los edificios tienen arquitectura antiguo desde el romans, pero hay muchas buenas tiendas como H&M, Zara y Sephora. ¡Madrid tenía tres tiendas de H&M dentro de un radio de tres millas! La moda es más actual en Madrid que la moda en los Estados Unidos. Tuve la oportunidad de comprar ropa que no puedo comprar en los Estados Unidos.

La arquitectura en Madrid es muy diferente a la construcción de edificios en los Estados Unidos porque no tenemos la influencia de los Romanos en los Estados Unidos. La arquitectura en los Estados Unidos es más moderno que la arquitectura de Madrid porque los Estados Unidos no existen hasta el siglo XVI.

El Museo de Prado

Durante el segundo fin de semana que fui al Madrid, fui el Museo de Prado con todos los estudiantes en mi grupo. Marta es el líder de mi grupo cual es muy bien porque Marta está estudiando arte a la Universidad. Sabía mucha realidades sobre las artistas en el museo. Este museo no tienía un gran cantidad de diferentes de géneros del arte. Más de las obras estaban de la crucifixion de Jesús y sus discípulos. Despues de tiempo, todos las obras empiezan me miran igual. Pero me estuve interesante escuchar a Marta hablé sobre las artistas. Algunos de obras favoritas de este museo son:

Durante el primero fin de semana que fui al Madrid, fui el Museo de Reina Sofia en Domingo. En este museo tenía un exposición de Dalí. Uníco fui el exposición de Dalí porque estaba fratis en las tardes de domingo. Pero este exposición estuve el exposición uníco de este museo que quería par aver. Algunos de sus obras mis favoritas son:

Iglesia con Julie Clifton

Durante el primero fin de semana que fui al Madrid, fui a la iglesia de Julie en Domingo. Julie es un misionero de Alabama. La madre de Julie va a la iglesia con mis padres en la iglesia Central Bautista en Decatur. Me gustó cantar mucho en su iglesia porque las canciónes eran facíles de entender para mí. Pero el sermón estuve más díficil para me entendo.

Me gusta la letra de uno de canciónes que dijo “Moriste por mí en la Cruz”.

Unos versos favoritos es Filipenses 4:13, “Todo lo puedo en Cristo que me fortalece.”

The Culture

Madrid is a antique city with modern characteristics. For example, the buildings have antique architecture from the Romans, but there is a lot of good shopping like H&M, Zara, and Sephora. Madrid has three H&M stores within a three-mile radius of each other! The fashion is more up to date in Madrid than the fashion in the United States. I had the opportunity to buy clothes that I cannot buy in the United States.

The architecture in Madrid is very different to the construction of buildings in the United States because we don’t have the Roman influence in the United States. The United States architecture is more modern than the architecture in Madrid because the United States did not exist until the sixteenth century.

The Prado Museum

During the second weekend that I went to Madrid, I went to the Prado Museum with all of the students in my group. Marta is the leader of my group which is good because she is studying art at the University. She knew a lo of facts about the artists in the museum. This museum did not have a lot of different genres of art. A lot of the works were of the crucifiction of Jesus and his disciples. After a while, all of the works started to look the same to me. But it was interesting to me to listen to Marta talk about the artists. Some of my favorite works of this museum are:

The Museum of Queen Sophia

During the first weekend that I went to Madrid, I went to the Museum on Sunday. This museum has a exhibit of Dalí. I only went to the exhibit of Dalí because it is free of charge on Sundays. But this exhibit was the only exhibit of this museum that I wanted to see. Some of my favorite works of Dalí are:

Church with Julie Clifton

During the first weekend that I went to Madrid, I went to Julie’s church on Sunday. Julie is a missionary from Alabama. Her mom goes to church with my parents at Central Baptist Church in Decatur. I liked singing in her church a lot because the songs were easy for me to understand. But the sermon was harder for me to understand.

I like the lyric from one of the songs that said, “He died for me on the Cross”.

One of my favorite verses is Phillipians 4:13, “ I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

El Cuarto de Julio [The Fourth of July]

"La Tierra de la Libertad"

Todos los paises del mundo presentan una imagen más o menos tópica o más o menos real. Estados Unidos presenta una imagen de tópica y realidad. Se dice que los estadounideses son, obesos, perezosos y amistosos. Se dice también que son modernos y el alma de la fiesta. La verdad es que los estadounideses son todas estas opiniones porque los Estados Unidos tienén gente de todos los países. En Estados Unidos representamos "una tierra de la libertad". Esto significa que los estadosunideses son todas diferentes y en Estados Unidos eres libre para expresas uno mismo de cualquier manera. En conclusión, Estados Unidos es "la tierra de la libertad".

English Translation: "The Land of the Free"

All the countries in the world present, more or less, an cliche/stereotypical image or a real image. The United States presents a real and stereotypical image. People say that Americans are obese, lazy, and friendly. They also say that they are modern and the life of the party. The truth is that Americans are every opinion, because, in The United States, they have people of all countries. In America, we represent "a land of the free". The significance of The United States is that we are all different, and in The United States, people are free to express themselves in anyway. In conclusion, America is "the land of the free".

*This was an assignment that we had two weeks to write the first week of class. However, I found it appropriate to post it with the fourth of July.

Festival de Tapas

Marta, los estudiantes otros, y yo fuimos al festival de tapas anoche. El festival de tapas estaba ubicar en el centro de la ciudad cerca de la Plaza de España. Estaba una manzana de la Plaza de España. La Plaza de España era antiguo y tenía un fuente de agua en el medio de la plaza. Más adolescentes salían a la Plaza de España hablar con sus amigos en la noche. La plaza de el festival de tapas era muy bello con música y más comida deliciosa.

Tapas eran un aperitivo popular que gente recibió cuando ellos ordenaron una bebida. La comida era como "comer con los dedos". Estuve muy feliz que la festival occurió porque no estuve con mi familia para el cuatro de julio. La tapa que elegí, tuvo carne, pan frita, una salsa especialidad y un pimiento verde.

English Translation: The Tapa Festival

Marta, the other students, and I went to the Tapas Festival last night. The Tapas festival is located downtown near the Plaza of Spain. It was one block away from the Plaza of Spain. The Plaza of Spain is old and has a water fountain in the middle of the plaza. A lot of teenagers go to the Plaza de Spain to talk with their friends at night. The plaza of the Tapas Festival was very beautiful with music and delicious food.

Tapas are a popular appetizer that people recieve when they order a beverage. The food is like "finger foods". I was very happy that the festival occurred because I was not with my family for the fourth of July. The tapa that I ordered had meat, fried bread, a special sauce, and a green pepper.

El Museo De Arte Abstracto Español [The Spanish Abstract Art Museum]

El Primero Pesa

He visitido muchos puestos en Cuenca. En semana pasado, fue al Museo de Abstractos con todos las otras estudiantes. El museo de abstractos tenía tres pesas. La obera de el museo nos decía sobre la historia de museo y artistas. El dormitorio primero tenía tres piezas de arte. Mi pieza de arte favorita en este dormitorio era los tonos de reflexion. Los dos piezas de arte superpuesto el uno al otro hacía una obra maestra.

La Pesa Segundo

En la pesa segundo, hay un otro dormitorio con tres otras piezas de arte. El pieza de arte en la media de el dormitorio era negro y blanco con muchos trazos abstractos. Los dos otros piezas eran trazos muy definidos. Eran ordenado y tenía líneas rectas.

Despues de visitimos este dormitorio, la obera no fue con nosotros para el resto de la pesa. Exploramos por nuestra cuenta. Mi piesa de arte favorita en este pesa era llama "Cocktail Party". Fue mi favorita porque tenía muchos colores y era muy divertido y brillante.

El Sótano

El sótano estía totalmente para las obras de Eduardo Arroyo. Él era una artisto muy famoso en España. Más pinturas de Eduardo Arroyo estaban retratos de gentes. Algunos las pinturas estaban serio y corrente. Mientras otras pinturas estaban muy loco, diferente y caótico.

Segunda Vez En El Museo

Este semana, volvíamos al museo para un lección de arte. El lección estaba sobre arte abstracto. Practicamos pintura como un artista. Por ejemplo, que no usamos mucho pintor o más que tres colores. Pintamos alrededor objetos como círculos, cuadrados y triángulos. Los golpes eran muy suaves y sueltas. Esta actividad fue muy divertido.

English Translation:

The First Floor

I have visited a lot of places in Cuenca. Last week, I went to the Abstract Museum with all of the other students. The worker at the museum told us about the history of the museum and artists. The first room had three pieces of art. My favorite piece of art in this room was the "tones of reflexion". The two pieces of art overlapped each other to make a masterpiece.

The Second Floor

On the second floor, there is another room with three pieces of art. The piece of art in the middle of the room is black and white with a lot of abstract strokes. The other two pieces have definite strokes. They are neat and have straight lines.

After we visited this room, the worker did not go with us to the rest of the floor. We explored on our own. My favorite piece of art on this floor is called "Cocktail Party". It was my favorite because it has a lot of colors, and it is very fun and bright.

The Basement

The basement is totally for the works by Eduardo Arroyo. He is a famous artist in Spain. Most of Eduardo Arroyo's paintings are portraits of people. Some of the portraits were serious and normal. While other pantings were very crazy, different, and chaotic.

The Second Visit to the Museum

This week, we returned to the museum for an art lesson. The lesson was about abstract art. We practiced painting like an artist. For example, we didn't use a lot of paint, and we didn't use more than three colors. We painted around objects like circles, squares, and triangles. The strokes were very soft and loose. This activity was very fun.
